9 April 2021 No Comment

The parties agree that the terms of this agreement apply to union bargaining units, on the employer`s sites, locations and institutions, or for other purposes defined by the employer. This contract ends with written notification from the employer. Such a written notification will not be made more than twenty-one (21) days after the end of the declared state of emergency. This agreement may be extended by mutual agreement between the parties. 4. The redeployment of staff may be modified as required and, if possible, on a voluntary basis and/or in accordance with the provisions of their collective agreement. In order to facilitate the redistribution of staff between construction sites, qualified staff have the opportunity to work on a voluntary basis on site, on site or in the establishment, where additional staff are needed. If an insufficient number of workers are voluntarily made available, the employer may, if necessary, re-employ the staff. If travel and accommodation are required, employees are compensated in accordance with their collective agreements. 1. Alternative hours The employer may require workers to work alternative hours and overtime for which they are compensated under their collective agreement.

The employer will endeavour to share them with as many amendments as possible and will endeavour to publish them as much as possible. The Agreement on Good Neighbours provides for a planned and agreed response to the current state of health emergency created by the COVID-19 pandemic. The agreement ensures the health, safety and security of the province`s residents, while protecting health professionals who are at the forefront of the pandemic. The employer will follow the collective agreement formula and current practice with respect to the recruitment of temporary and casual workers before employees are seconded out of the collective agreement unit. Prior to worker renewal, the employer ensures that all workers in the relevant bargaining unit, in the event of dismissal or recall, whose duties normally include the task, are offered the assigned work. I am pleased that our government and our public sector unions are working together to reach this agreement,“ said Minister Marshall. It is important that when we respond to the H1N1 pandemic, we ensure the health, safety and security of the people of Newfoundland and Labrador. Osborne says the savings from the deal will mainly cover the cost of wage increases. 6. Seniority workers with temporary or permanent employment with the employer assigned to another bargaining unit because of the needs arising from the emergency, benefit, in accordance with the provisions of their original collective agreement, from the oldest seniority, unless they are normally dismissed. The provincial government and newfoundland and Labrador Association of Public and Private Employees (NAPE) have reached an interim agreement to extend their existing collective agreement to 16,000 workers.
